Bagpipes: 1, Vienna Rats: 0

Post by awilde569 » Thu Jun 10, 2010 10:51 am

Saw this amusing article while digging around online some.

Tour bosses in Austria have come up with a way of
frightening off rats on their trips around the historic drains of
the capital, Vienna.
The tours, which walk the sewers made famous by film The
Third Man, were closed down after health officials worried
about the risk of rat bites.
Tour organizers figured out that the sound of bagpipes would
send the rats running for cover and now the tours are back
on.
Organizers say, "we get rid of the rats by taking a bagpipe
player down with us and they sound really great in the
catacombs."
