Wood suppliers near London

Post by DomH » Thu Jul 04, 2013 1:45 pm

Hello All!

So I've been attempting making instruments (specifically chanters but also flutes as well) and as much as I'm just a beginner I'm kinda on a role - BUT I don't know any good wood suppliers that are local to me. I live in North London and was wondering if anyone had any idea of someone/some business that does stuff like Black wood, olive wood, ebony, box wood, etc.

Any help/advice would be very much appreciated!!

Dom

likewise - if there are decent wood suppliers for instrument making a bit further afield, but who deliver that would be just as handy :)

You might like to consider recycling the wood from old hardwood furniture, which can often be found in second hand shops or even dumped in skips. Old hardwood like that is often very good quality and has shrunk as much as it is going to shrink, so no need for any further seasoning.
