Johnny Bourke measurements?

Post by bobble991 » Wed Feb 02, 2011 2:49 pm

Has anyone measured any of Johnny Bourke's concert sticks? If so are they available for sale anywhere? I ask because as some of you know I have an unspeakable lust for the set Davey Spillane plays in that Bon Lavogue clip on youtube and I believe he used Johnny's reamers to make some of his sets. The link to that clip is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPeoXH_Vw20

Thanks
Bob

He apprenticed/worked with Johnny Bourke. JB in turn apprenticed with /assisted Dan O Dowd. I was in Dan's house in 1980, when he showed me the workshop Dan said Johnny had taken most of the tools away to work in his own workshop in Bray. So the reamers may have been Dan's to begin with.

For all I know Dan may (or may not) have been using the legendary 'French bayonet'. Certainly heard him mention it at times.

If it's the sound you're after, there's a 1/2 set of Johnny Bourke's pipes for sale in Ireland, advertized on NPU's classified section:
