Personally I love my old Taylor style set. Love the look. Love the playability. Love the sound. I'd never go back.

In terms of weight, the body of my set with its double bored bass drone, hollow main stock and folded-back bass reg is lighter than any of my previous concert pitch sets. That said, the chanter with all the ribbon keys is definitely heavier.

Taylor style pipes are certainly not everyone's cup of tea. But for those of us who do play them and love them, I suspect my feelings above are pretty common.

Prefer Taylor: the keys provide greater surface area which is helpful if you play cross chords on the regs, as well as free-hand playing on them.
