Upload your tunes!

Re: Upload your tunes!
Thanks indeed bensdad. I got into a long discussion centered around airs from songs vs airs not from songs with young Joey... I'm of two minds myself. Some I would play as the singer would sing, and others... not. Similar to Master Clancy (and what does your revered critical gadfly think of his air playing?) but apparently unlike Master Joey who advocated always playing an air per the singer's way.
Personally, I'd rather have the english in mind while playing this particular air, but only since I am not at all fluent in irish! How can I communicate the story if I don't even understand it?
Maybe this *should* be its own thread!

I really like your slow air playing Otto Kraan.

If you play Easter Snow could you post it?

Re: Upload your tunes!
The patina of history has left a disturbing red stain on this hopelessly chipper tune. So here's "The Garry Owen" in an appropriately dark setting.
Lots of regs here, but If you listen carefully you can even hear the chanter.
ok

No second opinion needed there, Dr. Bensdad.

Re: Upload your tunes!
I really love the 'old-school' reg playing of Rowsome and Clancy. So here's my attempt at such with 'Father O'Flynn'. Never had regulators before until only about 6 months ago so it's quite new territory for me.
Recording quality not so hot as the mic is just a cheap dynamic placed too close to the regs. As reg playing is a new thing for me, I kind of lose my grip on the chanter at one stage the first time round. It's kind of like going back and learning to ride a bike again.

I too am waxing Rowsomey these days. Here are one/two tunes to suit different moods.

Yes - regulators are a crazy idea and crazy to play - but once you start you just can't stop.

Couple of hornpipes on a C chanter I've just finished making - The Brown Coffin / Cronin's. Recorded on a Yamaha Audiogram and Sure SM57 dynamic mic with Audacity and no special EQs or effects. Bit fast owing to excitement.

Re: Upload your tunes!
Hi,
I've been learning the pipes for a couple of months now. I've had a couple of Skype lessons, but still haven't managed to physically meet up with any pipers yet! However I'm pressing on and having a great time.
I've written and recorded a track which contains me playing pipes amongst other things. It isn't even remotely traditional Irish I'm afraid - I'm very green in that area. Anyway here it is - hope you enjoy it! More than happy for some constructive criticism.
