I'll be interested to see how that matures over time. Kirk Lynch made a chanter of american Pear - lovely light colored stick with strong patterning - 7 years later it is a lovely chocolate brown, but patterning not so apparent now.

My new Q&K D chanter in castella boxwood with true box trim. Made to match my C set ("The Odd Blonde"). No, not left-handed; as with the C set, I asked for the F nat. key block on the other side so it doesn't get in the way of the RH 2nd and 3rd fingers, and indeed it doesn't.
Powerful little beast, this one, with tone to spare, all with a very easy reed. How does BK do that?

Here's my D full set of John Pederson pipes made for me back in '96. Brass and ebony. This set is a workhorse, and John's work is amazing. Cherry stock and Bellows. He hand carves his bellows with designs, like the dragon/celtic knot I've got.

MacGregor style set with barrel unit.

As with the originals it has four keys on the Tenor Regulator (F#,G,A and B) and a single key on the Baritone (D) but with a long touch piece so it can be used in conjunction with lower three keys on the Tenor to give basic chords.

From top to bottom:

Bb chanter by Sam Lawrence (2012) in ebony with boxwood mounts and nickle silver ferrules and keys. It is a hair under 19 inches long, but the stretch is quite manageable. Bb is my favorite pitch and Sam's chanter lived up to my every expectation.

Bnat chanter by Seth Gallagher (circa. 2003) in ebony with artificial ivory mounts and brass ferrules and keys. This chanter has a really beautiful tone, particularly in the first octave.

Lovely work as always, someone will be a happy piper to receive them.
Are you back on the ebony again David? Is the mainstock ebony?
