South Wales Tionol 1st September

The tionol features Mick O'Brien , Alan Burton & Christopher McMullan teaching the pipes and Emma Sweeney running a fiddle class.Mick O'Brien from Dublin is regarded as one of the best pipers around. Alan Burton hails from Cornwall and as well as a reed shaman now makes uilleann pipes , Christopher McMullan is young piper and hails from the world famous Armagh Piping Club. Emma Sweeney is a former BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Musician of the Year Finalist , a regular on the Manchester folk scene and has played with the Mike McGoldrick band. The tionol is at St Dunstans Church , Regent Street , Ferndale , Rhondda, R.C.T, South Wales.

Price for the workshops are £30 which includes tuition , tea/coffee and lunch also comes with a free ticket for the concert. The workshop starts at 1000 and finishes at 1600. Tuition all day with the tutors swapping about.

The Celtic Night Concert features the above musicians plus Magenta (unplugged). Magenta are one of the UK's finest prog rock bands but all the technology will be ditched in favour of a celtic acoustic set. The concert takes place at Holy Trinity Church , Church ST , Tylorstown , Rhondda , RCT, South Wales. Doors open 1830 for a 1900 start. Tickets are £6 adults , £5 concessionary and we have wheelchair access for the concert.

There will also be a session on Friday 31st Aug at the Duke of York Pub , East road , Tylorstown starting at 2100 and a session on Sat 1st September at the Ferndale Hotel , Duffryn Street , Ferndale starting approx 2145.
