Ordering Concert DRONES

Post by eric f. » Fri May 29, 2009 4:00 am

I am thinking of ordering concert drones. Any suggestions which makers making great sounding drones (Europe)? And if possible that I get drones in 1 to max 2 years.

Thanks :)

Hi Eric,

Who makes the best drones? That all depends on what sound you want. Some people like a balanced sound among the three drones. Others like a dominant bass drone. Some like drones that make the floor vibrate while others like a softer sound.

You should consider how the drones would sound against your chanter. You probably don't want anything that will drown out your chanter or that will require significant bag pressure if you have a light playing reed in your chanter.

My suggestion would be to start with the maker of your chanter and see if you like the sound (and look) of their drones.
