I was looking at pipes for sale on this stores site. Any opinions on these lower priced practice and half sets?

Don't do it...any time you are not told the maker, you can bet they are made in Pakistan...especially if you look at the 'mid-east' reeds.

My first set was from H&D. It was a Pakistani set and it went back in a couple days. I don't know what their selling now but its probably not a legitimate set. I went with David Daye. His sets are about the same price as Mid-east sets, but are fully functional, quality instruments.

I have the original Penny Chanter made of brass and derlin plastic. Last I checked he is making wood ones too, but the the solid Penny Chanter is great for fending off highlanders and box players... only kidding Daye plays Highland pipes too, but seriously watch out for box players. Only a Penny Chanter could stand up to David Munnley's mad foot stomping.
