Not only is Florida Joe Darth Vadar, but he's also a moderator. Does this mean he has really gone over to the dark side??

Question - No E - is that an anti-drug statement, or a cry for help from a damaged chanter?

Chanter case?

Does such a creature exist? Currently, I wrap my chanter in armaflex (pipe cladding) polystyrene when it is in its case. However, with the addition of keys this will become a little messy. Does anyone make a hard case just for the chanter to keep it from being damaged while being transported in a pi...

Still... if you're going to spend $6,000+ on a set of pipes that will take a few years to be made, I would think it best to go to a Tionol or visit some pipemakers shops for a test drive to decide what maker you want to go with. OK but after spending $6000 on your pipes you choices are: a) Spend $5...

Brian McNamara

I hear that Brian McNamara will be at the Pipers Gathering in Vermont in August. I've been listening to his CD recently and enchanted is the only word. I'm beginning to really appreciate solo piping, thanks mainly to him. His style is so relaxed and fluid that he makes it sound so easy.

My point is that we would be less likely to attend tionoli if we could have all our questioned answered online and for free.

It was meant to be a joke, but obviously it was too oblique.

What we need to figure out is how to attract professional pipe makers and pipers and learn how to listen to them.
I suspect an online forum which provides all that would quickly be sabotaged by the organisers of the various (highly successful) tionoli and pipers gatherings

I've no illusions about my skill as an instrument maker (ha!!), but I've great respect for those who spent years learning the craft and perfecting their skill. I'm delighted they do so, so that I can enjoy the product of their labour.

Good luck with this endeavour. It's not for the faint of heart!!

Anyways, Dale canned the whole thing, saying he will have a solution in a few days. djm has summed it all up quite nicely. I'd only add that since this forum has taken off, I doubt that C&F will reopen the UP forum. Dale did mention that he'll try find a way to transfer the archives to this forum. ...

I'd like to suggest a part of the board be dedicated to buying and selling pipes and components (chanters, drones, reeds, bellows). Obviously some sort of control would have to be put in place to prevent large commercial interests from taking over. I suggest that each member be limited to on adverti...

Thanks to Rich, Dale and Alan

Amid all the excitement of getting a dedicated Uilleann Pipes forum off the ground, I don't think I'm alone in wanting to thank Rich Dale and Alan for having put up with us all on the C&F forum. They did sterling work.

Quebec - Irish Pipers Club Open Meeting

I know this is probably getting a little repetitive, but on Saturday April 16th, the Irish Pipers Club of Quebec will be holding an open meeting at Kirk Hall, Quebec City. All are welcome.

For more information, PM me.
