Re: newbies start here - New to the uilleann pipes?

Hi all. I received a set of Uilleann pipes as a present and am trying to figure them out. My biggest problem so far is that the Connector Tube between the bellows and the bag kinks up when I try to play. The neck of the bag, between the reservoir an the chanter stock, also kinks up. HI , would some...

Re: NPU Pipemaking Videos

Ok thanks Bill.
I've tried again and have found lots of vids that now I can view,
I initially just tried the recently added A. Rogge vids on the main page rather than digging down to the others on the right.
Problem sorted cheers.

Re: Looking for a piper in the Austin, TX area

There is an Austin Uilleann pipers club but they don't have a web site. Check out tradconnect.com (groups). there is an Austin pipers club there.

Re: Playing the same notes in consecutively

I was just teaching some youngsters the same thing last night and when I tried to get them to stop the chanter between notes I found they were stopping and starting the air supply by squeezing and then not squeezing the bag between notes. I'm sure all of them put far more thought, care and work into their pipes than their websites show

unusual implement

I picked up this brass device, not sure what it is. Possibly a clockmaker's tool? I don't know. Any one got a clue? I could use it to observe slip thickness but haven't so far. Also the tool on the left is nice and incredibly sharp, a bit too big to use as a scraper though. http://i1033.photobucket....

Re: chanter tenon dimensions

I no longer use the measurements I posted, I now use a tapered longer end ferrule for the moment anyway.
