Re: Composite drone reeds

The ivory from old piano keys can be used as well. Dave Boisvert has done it.

SOLD: Boisvert 4-drone 1/2 set.

This is really, really hard for me to do, and with a broken heart I am forced to offer up my concert pitched David Boisvert 4-drone 1/2 set in cocobolo, boxwood and brass. This was/is my dream set... very difficult to part with... The fourth drone is an A drone with a shut-off pin. http://i2.photobu...

New Bellows

Hey all, I have recently purchased and received a new set of bellows from Jim Schaefer. Some pics (I currently do not own a working PC, so these are photos from Jim showing the bellows in its construction phase). http://mysite.verizon.net/littlems1/media/bellows_pics/Top_lr.JPG http://mysite.verizon...

Re: Brand pipes

In my experience, when dealing with the sale of UPs on eBay, if it seems too good to be true, then it generally is. If you email them, and are unable to get an honest reply informing you of the pipes maker, then I'd say it is a real good bet they (the pipes) aren't what they are made out to be... bu...

Re: Brand pipes

I'd be suspicious of this set for at least two reasons: 1). The price is too good to be true. 2). No mention of the instrument's maker (or their experience) is listed. FWIW, it's best to stick with known makers of an established reputation for quality of craftmanship. THere is no indication of that ...

Re: finger exercises

Finger exercises are all good and fine, but what I consider more important is stretching properly before, during and after playing. The last thing any piper needs is to be 'grounded' from a repetitive motion injury.

Re: locking of threads

For the record, I do not set the rules, I enforce them. I have no personal agenda when I decide to lock a thread either. I volunteer my time between here and at C&F becuase I love the instrument and its music, not because I wish to go off on anyone or exercise my ego... assuming I have one to begin ...
