jim, i think you are right. i scraped a little bit off the reed and it seemed to have fixed the problem. it almost sounds like a new reed.

i worked with the bridle for a day or so then decided to go ahead and trim them a bit. it worked. i got the back strong but now too much pressure will cause C-nat to play C#....whats up with that and how to fix it???

is there a mistake im making in the binding up process that would make the back D just collapse. this is an older reed that i am trying to revive. after i get it put together it plays fine except the back D takes no pressure before it collapses. is the staple up in the cane to far or not enough? cou...

i practice my pipes often at work(im a music teacher in an elementary shcool)...the lady next door to me is always complaining. i may try to build one of those devices that thies posted about.

i feel your pain. i have 4 kids between the ages of 3 and 12. i usually try to go out in the garage and practice. if you have an office room or an extra bedroom you could try some soundproofing tactics... im not sure of any way to make the pipes really softer except closing the lips a bit and that w...

lorenzo...dont let that key sig mislead you ...its a D mix tune....make sure you are playing C# in the A part and Cnat in the B part...(that is the way i learned it anyway....tommy keane the pipers apron)

Ah, that's a natural one on pipes. Lately, I've been hooked on D tunes with the Cnat.

my ears are pretty good but this tune just fell right out of the chanter...it was the Rambling Pitchfork

there have been several other that were just easy like that to learn...one just happend to be the Donnybrook Fair and jim wards jig

cool thing happened today

ive been listening to this tune for a while now. i have never tried to play it but today i picked up the pipes and it just kind of came out and played itself....... its nice when that happens....not often, but nice.

sorry guys, i didnt mean to get us off topic......i was just kidding around a bit. i hope noone was offended.

bill had some good ideas about tunes. would it be possible to have a forum of just tunes (in abc and standard notation) and mp3.
