Re: Reeding Services.

I have a full set B.C. Childress and have the complete specs for his reeds on a sheet of paper..

Can you make the reed from the specs rather than me sending you the chanter?

Tnx

Re: How would this forum be better suited for your use?

I get lost on a couple of 'them's thar fancie forums" lol . Also you don't have all the dumb 'rules on top of rules' . We all need rules no d...

Re: Finbar Furey Staple Diameter

HI No they are not all there. I have them here.. Finbar says on his video if your high G is flat .. He uses a hammer and hits the reed on the binding right where the staple opening is. Gives it a couple of taps.. He says that will sharpen the Bottom and High G and Back D. Then to fix the back D bein...

Collapsed Reed. How do I know ??

I have read a few places about collapsed reeds but no one has ever mentioned how one would know if it is collapsed that I can find. So what is the symptom of a collapsed reed? What does it sound like? Does it crack? What are the signs of a collapsed reed? How do I know if a reed has collapsed. Johnnie

Re: Finbar Furey Staple Diameter

Thanks for that. Finbar had mentions in the video that he switched to brass tube due to it being difficult to acquire the proper sheets of copper to roll them up.. Not sure if available more so over here in Canada or not.. I am fairly new to uilleann pipes and new to reed making but have all what I ...

Finbar Furey Staple Diameter

Hi After watching the videos that Finbar Furey had made about making reeds one of the things he mentiones is that fact the High G plays wrong in relation to low G.. The fix he said is the larger diameter staple.. But he did not say what the size was just that it was brass tubing.. Anyone on here kno...

FYI- The link for Tom Kennedy is defunct. he's had some big life changes but is still making reeds a little bit. No idea on contact info as of now, but I shall post when I get in touch with him. I found this in my travels. Hope it helps. If not delete it http://168.144.64.31/design/kennedy/bio.asp ...

Reed opening not oval, one side flat

Hi I have/had a reed in my chanter that is flat on one side and has the oval shape on the other. Is there a way to make both sides of the reed the same. I tried to remedy it and cracked the reed right down the middle.. Is there a repair for this too, or is the reed toast. I notice a new reed I have ...

Re: finger exercises

Triplets are important, especially played tight (stacatto). In fact, you can practise playing all your scales, arpegios, etc. stacatto, working for speed, accuracy and timing (evenness). Mick Coyne is currently revamping his Uilleann Pipes Tutor site, but there was a lot of good stuff there before,...

Re: Bag Neck bending Shutting off air to Chanter

Thanks guys Yes I am holding it right ..The leather is so soft it but takes a bit of movement to stop the air. I know one is allowed a bit of movement when playing.. And the spot where air comes thru is not comfortable in that position to play the chanter. So I will try the tubing trick.. thanks Joh...

Bag Neck bending Shutting off air to Chanter

Hi all I have a Uilleann pipe bag that has a problem by the neck where the chanter plugs into. The piece it plugs into is about 2 inches long. At the end that is in the bag when I move the chanter around the air shuts off. The bag is very soft and it folds over fairly easy shutting off the air suppl...
