Re: Upload your tunes!

Hi, I've been learning the pipes for a couple of months now. I've had a couple of Skype lessons, but still haven't managed to physically meet up with any pipers yet! However I'm pressing on and having a great time. I've written and recorded a track which contains me playing pipes amongst other thing...

Re: Pipers/groups near Leicester, England?

Just in case anyone's interested, I had a Skype lesson with Mr. Martin Nolan in Ireland tonight. It was brilliant - will definitely be doing that again!

Music has no boundaries...

It would still be nice to meet up with some locals though!

Re: Hi! Beginner with some questions...

I spent some time fiddling with the reed yesterday, and managed to cure the flat A. However the back D then went weak and liable to breaking, which was really tough to play. Then I found this page which is quite useful: http://homepage.tinet.ie/~robertscharles/tunechanter.html I moved the reed out o...

Pipers/groups near Leicester, England?

Hi,

Are there any meetings or pipers that close (ish) to Leicester? I've found a few up North, or in the South East or South West...

Cheers,
Matt

Re: Hi! Beginner with some questions...

Ah sorry I was a bit misleading with the pads - I was trying to distinguish between the fleshy bit as opposed to the creases at the knuckles. I'm trying to use LH3 and RH4 fingers on the end joint and the others on the second joint. Should I be using the second joint for all of them? I've actually g...

Re: Hi! Beginner with some questions...

Can not having my fingers completely covering the holes properly be helping it jump the octave?

Re: Hi! Beginner with some questions...

Ahh the weather has just turned cooler and wetter after a hot summer here in the UK.

OK that's a bit scary talking about adjusting the reed... I have got a couple of extras that came with it - I might try putting one of those in.

Thanks for the help :)

Hi! Beginner with some questions...

Hi, I'm now the proud owner of a practise set made by Kenneth McNicholl. I'm very much still in the beginner stages, but I'm having great fun :) I can bang out tunes well enough now that it is more fun than annoying. However I am going back and trying to reposition to get my fingers a little straigh...
