Re: Help with deathgrip issue

Only a couple other things to add: especially in a dry climate, it helps to get a better air seal on the tone holes with less pressure if your hands (fingers) are moisturized. Use Bag Balm or a good hand cream a few hours before you practice (so that your chanter doesn't get greasy with the excess)....

I've yet to meet Seth, but according to his web site he's in Arlington, which is SE of Fort Worth and SW of Dallas, definitely in the D/FW metroplex.

Re: TEXAS PIPERS???

Hello, I just started learning the Uilleann pipes a few months ago. I am located in the DFW (Dallas) area. Would love to connect with anyone near me. Thanks Tyler Hi Tyler, I live in rural Parker County, about 25 miles northwest of Fort Worth. The only other piper I personally know in the area is m...

Re: Sheet Music for the pipes??

Where can i find sheet music or tab, like they have for tin whistles, for the uilleann pipes? Sheet music for tin whistles is playable on the pipes as-is. I have a fair collection of music that I bought in Ireland when I lived there many years ago, but my favorite that I still use the most is O'Nei...

Re: pictures of your pipes

Is that a straight bass drone? No, it has a loop in it that is somewhat hidden by the baritone regulator. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h218/FJ80/Ireland/Piping/00029small.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h218/FJ80/Ireland/Piping/00009small.jpg It is a C natural flat set so the drones and ...

Re: 2nd octave problem

I'm in Belfast, I know my right hand fingers will eventually find the bottom two holes but right now I am not convinced that I am getting them covered properly every time. I wish the chanter hole grooves were more defined and not as smooth as they are (as it is I can't feel them). Is this the norm ...

I agree.

In addition, most of the ornamentation technique is the same, so you can practice your cuts, rolls, cranning, vibrato, etc. on the whistle too.
