I have a reed I didn't play for over a year, which developed a very weak back D during that time. I shaved a hair or two off the lips which has strengthened the back D, although weaked bottom D a bit and made the reed stiffer (requiring more pressure to play). Back D Problems

I have two reeds with similar problems. Both reeds are flat for the chanters, so need to be sharpened overall. The back D is pressure senstive and unstable and the C# to some extent.

I've tried cutting a hair off the lips, with minimal success.

Suggestions?

Bass Drone Too Loud

Hi,

My bass drone is too loud/ draws too much air, though it is well tuned. How can I adjust the composite drone reed ( wood body, plastic tongue ) to be able to reduce the volume and amount of air drawn, yet maintain the same pitch?
