Childress D Upgrade from Practice to Full/Chanter

Unless one of you folks would like to buy it first, I'll be listing basically a Childress upgrade from practice set to full set shortly either on Ebay or uilleannobsession.com. This comprises a stock cup, mainstock, full drones and regulators in blackwood, brass, and art Ivory. No cracks, dings, ben...

Re: Low C Foot-Joint for the Uilleann Chanter

Wow. Wow again. What a ponderous looking piece of er, device that is. Went to the newly updated site and it seems like this thing is designed bass-ackwards. You get low C with it pressed all the way into your knee--sliding a Rube Goldberg trombone contraption shut into itself, and get a D when it's ...

Re: Low C Foot-Joint for the Uilleann Chanter

To beat an even deader horse just a bit deader: Sticking a foot joint on UP turns UP into Pastoral, or Highland-system pipes. It cannot simply add another note, and that's that. It changes the entire scheme of the chanter by either preventing the stopping of the chanter entirely through the use of t...

Re: Low C Foot-Joint for the Uilleann Chanter

I'd be more concerned with the complete lack of explanation of how an uilleann chanter sort of works relative to this device. Does it convert ghost D to the GHB-style bell note D? Does the UP chanter then play with pinkie up like GHB or Pastoral pipes, closing ghost D to effect the bottom C? Or is b...

Re: chanter tenon dimensions

Yeah, yeah, he's the dude sticking the foot joint on UP to play a C bla bla, why not just confess and give up the mystery.

Re: Reeding Services.

You still in the neighborhood? I'd like to try some cane drone reeds, particularly in the treble drone which I hate in principle and wish would go away. I may even try a chanter reed, though I'm booked up with those at the moment--you can always use another chanter reed though.

Re: vPipes in Reality Part 3: Programming

I got a private note about matching outputs from vPipes into conventional guitar amplifiers. I only go that route for practice nights, and I've set everything up for L Mono output and use a conventional guitar plug. Volume level 5 is a bit hot and so I use level 4, but the note I got mentioned disto...

Re: vPipes in Reality: Part 1 Acquisition

Final note on the duty issue: in the States you're going to have to pay FedEX 5% which they will pay on your behalf to tax and customs based upon vPipe's very clear Declaration on the customs form they fill out on their end, which clearly puts it in the electronic instrument "other" category, not ba...

Re: vPipes in Reality Part 2: Overview

It looks like some variety of DIN standard and perhaps an extention could be added to it, but it's hard-wired into the unit internally and opening the unit voids any warranty with extreme prejudice. They don't even let you open them up to change the battery, you have to send the whole unit back to t...
