Re: pictures of your pipes

Mairtin - You could try first playing only with the tenor drone - put some kind of stopper in the ends of the baritone and bass drones. That way you can get used to playing against the drone, but without using so much air. Then once you find your balance you can add in the others. Cheers outofthebo...

Re: pictures of your pipes

Yes - playing with drones is a whole new ball game - but that's what bagpipes are really all about 8) very true - I would have held the bag right up under my armpit, now I can't as it makes the drones to steep and I find it awkward to hold the chanter in a comfortable playing position. lowering the...

Got my new Drones yesterday which will make a Preshaw Halfset...just have to learn to hold them properly and get used to pumping the bellows more often. not as easy as I first thought. sound great all the same. excuse the image quality.

Tried that third D Mr Gumby, it was handy enough to get into coming from second octave E and straight into the third D with same amount of pressure, nice enough note...but couldn't see myself ever using it. thanks for the tip thou.

So how is it a "Top D" if it's a C note?.......
It isn't. The chanter plays third d using that fingering in the high octave.
ok I didn't know that....so to get this third D...using the 2 fingered C ...just squeeze that little bit harder while in the second octave on the C Note?

Re: Uilleann Pipes chanter fingering chart for ALL!

Hi, I am a beginner on the Pipes myself, 2 years....the Chart looks great and all that but it has left me somewhat confused. On the second Octave notes you have the "Top D" finger placement the same as the 2 fingered C. So how is it a "Top D" if it's a C note?.......Chart looks great and so does you...

Re: 2nd octave problem

I'm in Belfast, I know my right hand fingers will eventually find the bottom two holes but right now I am not convinced that I am getting them covered properly every time. I wish the chanter hole grooves were more defined and not as smooth as they are (as it is I can't feel them). Is this the norm ...

Re: Upload your tunes!

Cheers outofthebox I just haven't really got used to using the bag and bellows yet, infact that is what's causing me the most difficulty, as you say I seem to be pushing the notes through. While watching pipers play on youtube etc: they seem to let their bellows go flat , whereas mines are always fu...

Re: Upload your tunes!

Hi guys, I borrowed an Ipod while waiting on a new recording device to be delivered so I thought I would upload a tune that I learnt. Been playing...well trying to play the pipes for 6 months now, not really sure how I'm doing on them...but I am certainly enjoying the experience ...well not when I'm...
