pipes ID?

I've been contacted by someone who has inherited a set of pipes and would like to know what they are with a view to selling them. they think they are from the 1980's. Anyone got an ID? I don't personally know the person nor have any vested interest. Thanks http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a419/re...

Hmm, I beg to differ.
Depends who you know, who you are and where you are.
A good player in a county and country rich in trad music would find it easier than some.

Re: Keys of Uilleann Pipes

I think the term is transposable instrument. Like whistles , saxophones, written music and fingering will be the same although the pitch differs. Concert D is the bright one often found in pub sessions. Narrow bore D or flat sets being a little mellower often. Pitches other than D can sound great wi...

Re: Travelling pipes Easyjet Flybe

On a recent trip to France I was able to get a full set of cocert pies and a 3/4 set of B uilleann pipes in the one case. They shared the same set of bellows but each had their own pipebag. A few whistle too. I did wrap them in tshrts etc but removed that for the photo. This case was a little too bi...

But this raises the question, which bag holding position is best and why? Then an air inlet could be made to any angle rather than the player adapting to the metal.

bag and chanter side air intake angle

I noticed something interesting at Listowel NPU tionol the other week ( well it was interesting for me anyway). Two pipers, one with a steep air inlet on the chanter top and a steep angle of bag holding position, another piper with a shallower angle of chanter air inlet and shallow bag angle, almost...

Re: Travelling pipes Easyjet Flybe

Thanks for the replies guys. I am travelling with a party of people, would be quite a step to say I'll just meet you there, but will need to add up the prices of driving again from Glasgow. These budget airlines charge you extra if you try and sneak a larger case on board and then have to check it i...

Travelling pipes Easyjet Flybe

Planning on taking the pipes to Nantes, France. Looking into travel options. Flybe and Easyjet half the price of driving or train. Although easyjet say on their web, musical instruments up to 130cm can be carried in cabin. I queried it with easy jet to be sure and sure enough that is rubbish, they s...

D Chanter for sale

This concert D uilleann pipe chanter was made from wood I bought from a retiring pipemaker around about 1996, I believe it is Scottish boxwood. It has an unusual and distinctive natural quality. Buffalo Mounts and decorative brass fittings. The chanter has been in my storage since it was turned in 2...
