Re: Ian Mackenzie Practice set for sale! (aus)

Hi Jock! The original post is a number of years old, but I have various new practice sets available and am willing and able to ship sets to Australia. (I have a couple of sets out there already). I am a pipemaker based in England, I have fully keyed Practice Sets in both the Taylor and Classic style...

Re: Bass Regulator Reeds

If your bass reg reed is jumping the octave try scraping backwards towards the bridle. This gives a more "sloppy" sound, especially on Rowsome syle reg reeds. Using softer/thicker cane helps here too.

Re: Weak Back D

Well done! A photo for your own information would be useful, but the simplest thing to do would be to mark the "ideal" bridle position with a sharp pencil point both above and below the current, working bridle position. Squeezing the bridle sides may have evened out/corrected a very small leak allow...

Re: Weak Back D

Seamus, You don't say how long this has been going on. Is it a new development or has it been there from the start? If you can stabilise the back D by raising the bridle then the difficulty in reaching the second octave could be that the lips are too thick or that the reed leaks. Wipe some beeswax a...

Re: Burping Bellows!

Additionally, the flap itself may be a little on the light side. Also check for airtightness in the wrappings on your bellows connector and, while you're at it, check the flap valve in both bag and bellows.

Uilleann Pipes Concert D Half Set for Sale

Here is a Concert D set of pipes made in Chris Bayley's workshop. Chris made the chanter, I keyed it up and finished it, and made the drones under his direction. It has the full 6 keys: C natural, F natural, G sharp and B flat, with a High D key and a low E flat key. It is made from Blackwood, with ...

Hi Vance,

Check your PMs. I don't need your chanter to supply a finished reed. If you are making your own reeds contact me for more details.

Re: Looking for Musette de cour

Hi Jeff, No, I have no plans to make Musettes, although they are a fascinating instrument. I just happened to be in Chris' workshop while they were awaiting further work. I would contact Chris with any enquiries. I don't know what his work schedule is like though; he has not fully recovered from the...

Chanter & Drone Cane For Sale

I have a good quantity of both chanter and drone cane in all sizes, including the tenor drone cane tubes that NPU charges a fortune for. It is all perfectly seasoned, and was cut in the South of France several years ago. Both Chris Bayley and I select and harvest this cane personally, and it makes s...

You have to navigate to "The Source" and then login with your email address and password, whether or not you have already logged in to NPU. Then you can view (some) of the videos. Quite a few of Andreas Rogge's are still restricted at the moment.
