Uilleann bagpipe essay by Michael C. Scully

Another plus is that it is great for polishing brass.

You could visit the automotive parts store and pick up a chamois leather or cloth. It makes a nice, soft popping strap that seals well.

Re: D Chanter holes locations

1. You have to relax your wrist and forearm muscles 2. The two upper fingers top hand cover the holes with the 2nd pad of the fingers, the ring finger first pad covers the hole. No fingertips! 3. For the bottom hand, the pinkie covers the bottom hole with the first pad, the other fingers should cove...

Re: Hornpipes!!!

Hornpipes are definately underplayed. My favorite rhythm is the jig family, then hornpipes. Hornpipes give you time to get the ornaments right. Most "party pieces" seem to be hornpipes.

I live in the hotbed of old time music and they like to play hornpipes at reel speed.

Re: Why are regulators so complicated?

I have Seth Gallagher C tenor and baritone regs for over two years and I haven't ever gotten them in tune. He made phosphor bronze heads, one of which would rise in pitch with a rise in bag pressure, the other would sink in pitch with an increase in bag pressure. I have had a rough spell with my hea...
